Eight pieces a season, and the count on every one

A season here is eight pieces. Each is cut in one batch, in a number decided before anything goes on sale, and that number is printed on the page along with how many have gone. This is the whole idea: you should be able to know how many of a thing exist before you buy one.

We do not run a permanent sale

A price on this site is not raised so that it can later be brought down. There is no standing reduction area, no seasonal countdown, and no piece that is permanently marked as a bargain. What changes over a season is not the price. It is the number of units left.

If a piece is ever reduced, we will show the reference price beside the new one, and we will state the basis for that reference price: the lowest price at which we offered that same piece in the thirty days before. Where that basis does not exist, no struck-through price, no percentage and no saving is shown at all. The site is built so that it cannot show one.

Statutory promotional periods in France are fixed by decree. The vocabulary reserved to those periods is used only within the dates the authorities set, and never outside them.

What the numbers on a piece mean

Made in this batch
The number of units of that piece, in that colour, we actually had cut. It is decided before the piece goes on sale and it does not move.
Sold
Units that have left us against a completed order. Returns that come back wearable go back into the batch and this figure falls again.
Left
The batch minus what has been sold. It is calculated, not stored, so there is no field anywhere that could be set to a more convenient number.
Series and release date
Which season the piece belongs to and the day it went on sale. Older series stay listed until their batches are through.
Restock label
One of three states, described below. It tells you what we currently intend, not what we guarantee for all time.
Batch complete
Every unit has gone. The page stays up with the figures on it, because deleting it would hide what was made.

A label is a commitment about what we intend, and we hold ourselves to it. A piece marked no restock planned is not quietly cut again in the same colour. If we decide to cut it again, the label changes first and the change is published here, before any new stock appears. The site itself enforces this: adding units to a piece still carrying that label stops the build.

You will not see us describe anything as gone for good, discontinued for ever or never to be made again. Those are claims about the future that nobody can stand behind. No restock planned is a decision we can be held to, so that is what we write.

Every series still listed

Sets are pairings of pieces already in a season rather than additional designs, so they never change a season’s count of eight.
