How it is made

The block is cut straight from the shoulder with a half-belt at the back so the waist can be drawn in without adding bulk at the front. Buttons run to the hem. The skirt is lined to mid-thigh so the front placket does not catch when you walk.

The cotton poplin holds a soft crease at the elbow and across the lap after a few hours seated. It presses out with a warm iron.
